IDrive Display at Startup Question...
 

I always leave my idrive to display the map and when I used to start my car, it would return back to the map, after the "accept" screen of course.

However, lately I noticed that it seems to randomly choose to either go to the map or start at the Idrive menu, in which case I then have to scroll down and click on navigation again to get back to the map.

Is this normal behavior? Or should it start on whatever screen it was on when I turned the car off?

Mine sometimes starts up at a different screen just something I have gotten use to. You can just press the nav butten by the idrive wheel instead of scrolling to map.

Same here, I usually exit the car with the my iPod current playlist displayed while it was playing music. Later on I noticed when I go start the car it would still start with the music playing but the External Devices Screen is displayed, or even the GPS map which I know I did not navigate to (I hardly use the GPS).

At first I thought it was due to the removal of the iDrive startup disclaimer nag I removed (via coding) but I guess not.

I had my car in for service for about a week and had a 335 loaner. I noticed the idrive had the same erratic behavior as my car, so I guess it's just the buggy BMW idrive software.

I had my M in again just before christmas and had a new 2011 328 with nav. I noticed the voice activation now lets you say the entire address at once, instead of doing city, then street, then house number etc. I wonder if it's a simply software update that I can try to ask them to do?
