I would assume that is it. Very strong smell. Especially if you put your nose by the passenger side kidney grill.

Interesting that they found leaks at BOTH return hoses for the turbocharger coolant systems

$4,740 for 5yr 100k mile extended warranty (platinum - includes upgraded stereo and Nav)

5 years, not 6?

They had an option for 6 but I will hit 100k miles before 6 years.

I had the turbo coolant line leaks and vacuum line rupture at around 29K miles. Took over a month to sort out in February and March of 2011. Mine was replaced by BMW.

The coolant line was replaced? Or the entire truck?

TripleHusky 11-23-2011 12:37 PM

The coolant line was replaced initially, took over three weeks to get the part from Germany. Had a blizzard here in Chicago while this was happening didn't help. Shortly thereafter the X5M started burning oil like crazy and loosing coolant. My right sided vacuum line, near the recirc valve started leaking and developed a split. The car was never the same. The car was in the shop a total of 62 days in 1.5 years, the majority in early 2011. Per my dealership's recommendation I got BMW USA involved. The key is support from the dealership. BMW replaced the X5M with a 750 that I picked out. No cost out of my pocket.

Wonder why it took so long to get the hose. I had mine fixed in 2 days. I also had a vacuum hose split. Still smells bad.

The hose wasn't in stock and had to come from Germany.

Have they never heard of DHL? That is way too long. Something fishy.
