New X6M videos....notice the new aluminum blue calipers

I read that LED lightning will be an option to the headlights. So in the X5M it will be an option rather then the substitute for the xenon headlights?

I understand the corona rings will be LED?

Adaptive LED headlights are standard on X5M and X6M, but option on regular X6.


Adaptive LED headlights.

The Adaptive LED headlights in the BMW X6 M illuminate the road in a unique way. Safety and sportiness form an unbeatable team.

Two three-dimensional light rings enclose the central LED modules of the headlights and create the typically sporting appearance of BMW. Dipped and high beam incorporate the LED module and both light rings and shine without the usual ‘dot effect’. Because its temperature is very similar to that of daylight, LED light has a very bright beam, enabling traffic signs to be seen more clearly.

Cornering lights, Adaptive headlights and High Beam Assistant are all integrated into the headlights. Cornering lights turn on automatically when bends are taken slowly. The Adaptive headlights react continuously to movements of the steering wheel and to speed, thus illuminating winding roads perfectly. The High Beam Assistant switches between full and dipped beam according to the traffic, thus easing the load on the driver during the dark. Dipped beam, accent lighting and direction indicators are also implemented with LED technology.

So far I can see the new headlights and the blue brake calipers on the 2013 X5M.

Kidney grill has an angle at bottom 1/3. The frame of grill is wider.
X6M has a power dome.
BMW has not released an official press release yet on what is new on X5M specifically. X6 M has X6 refinements and power dome, which can be optioned on X6 as well.

I like the blue calipers. They must have borrowed it from the new M5.

I see the lights...I notice that powerdome...anything else?

How minute a change, yet the lights make a great difference!

LeMans, the powerdome can be optioned on 50i?

Did you notice that the kidney grill is also angular at bottom?
Per the BMW global press release powerdome can be optioned on 50i. Have not seen the details from BMW NA yet.

Sakhir Orange leather interior is replaced with Mugello red merino leather.
X5 M can be ordered with 300M wheels.

Official debut at NY auto show. Production starts in April and will be in showrooms in May.

Options and packages yet to be determined?

What wheels are the 300M? The X6M style? How about 21" option and all the performance add-ons?

Coming slowly but surely. Not much changes though.

300M are wheels we have seen on X6 M in US
21" will be accessory as usual.
Performance accessories also coming.

I wonder if you can retrofit the headlights and taillights on a 2010. Any ideas? Probably too early to tell. :(

The rear of the X5M doesn't look particularly different. Are the tail-lights newer?

That what the release says, that the tail lights are LED. But the release talks about X6 and X5 M already had two LED bars for tail lights since X5 LCI.

Not sure if anyone saw the pricing on the 2013 X5/6M.

Power remains the same at 555 PS (408 kW / 547 hp) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque from the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine. Transmission is a six-speed M Sport automatic for the all-wheel drive system. 0-100 km/h takes 4.7 seconds; top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

The BMW X6 M and X5 M LCIs will make their public premieres at the New York Auto Show in April.

sounds retarded, but Im wondering if you could retrofit these headlights to a 2011 or 2012 X5 M ??

Also wondering if the new lights can be fitted on the older model. I'm guessing that they may not, since they make you pay $1900 just for those, but I'll keep hope alive--

from the looks of it no as new fenders, hood etc.. but with $$ anything is possible.

press pics looked like cross drilled rotors but real photo's shows they are not.

i'll be painting my gloss black calipers but not blue ;)

Starting to get restless on the packages, details on the 2013 X5M...

I am ready to see it and start building it online to order.

I have the Canadian product guide released today for the MY 2013 X5 M and X6 M to peruse in the meantime. ;) Shows the option codes for some new ones...e.g. Mugello Red - X3MR. Canadians get all the individual colors and options.

So my wife and I will go test drive a 550i together today. I drove one with the sport's package a few months ago and was nicely impressed with how good overall that car is.
Makes me wonder how much better the M5 is...:D Will have to test drive that too, once it's out.

That's interesting how quickly they took the 2012 model down. I used to check the darn website every other day to see if the 2013 was available and now it's finally coming...:thumbup:

However, there is no option online to choose the X6M style wheels. There is also no option for the black kidney grill and carbon fiber lip online in accessories.

So, where are those hiding? I must need to talk to my dealer about those...:dunno:

Accessories are never in BYO. Those you arrange through dealer or other source(ECS Tuning) and keep or sell the ones which come with car.
But you will be able to get 300M wheels on X5M.

Now the LED lights got me thinking...

Are they worth $1900? Look cool, i guess, but so do the xenon lights with LED corona rings that are new on 2013 model.

I wish there were 2 cars side-by-side comparison in the dark to really show the difference between the two. There is a lot of hype about the LEDs, but where is the direct comparison to show that LED is superior?:confused:
