Anyone replaced the interior lights with LEDs
 

Hi guys. Got the LED kit from ECS tuning.

Anyways took it to the dealer to get the bulbs switched out..(Know that its DIY project. But dont have the time for it). ANyways they told me that they cannot since the bulbs are too large. Talking to ECS about it. Have any of u tried using this kit? Do they fit.

The dealership also mentioned something about if reading lights were switched there was a constant error message?

I personally think that the dealer was playing hard with me.

I changed the door bulbs but not the interior bulbs.

The bulbs are $2 each in ebay.

i take it this is for the E70's only? im more interested in this project for a E53 X5

stlcity, the dealer is giving you a load of BS. i've done a full LED upgrade in my e53 with absolutely no error messages. the interior light system does not throw a dash code if one of the bulbs goes out or the body module detects a different voltage. it really is an easy install to do yourself. a small screwdriver and 30 minutes and you will be up and running. the difference is incredible, especially the license plate lights.

i used these , expensive but brighter than anything ive ever seeen !!

It's pretty easy to do yourself. Actually, the time it takes to drive to the dealer, I bet you could knock it out and DIY.

Awesome! ^^^ I just ordered a bunch of LED through Bimmian... did your kit comes with the replacement globes for the footwells, trunk lamps and courtesy lamps(in door) it was a bit confusing because I saw those listed as the modules separately and I only ordered the license plate LED module/lamps

if you get the expensive kit it comes with every interior lights replacement

Do u guys know how to replace the lamp in the dome light? (the large light just above the rear view mirror...)

I've done the Ultimate LED kit from Bimmian for three vehicles now, and have been very pleased.

The only challenge is in the E70 the dome light bulb holder is at a different angle, so I can't use the big module.
