Time to tune?

Guys I was thinking of getting the Dinan tune in a couple of weeks when I have the SAV at the dealer for the tire change. It has 1400 miles on it. Do u guys think that it is too early? Thought of going the Dinan route because of the warranty although it is more expensive..

BTW the truck is in a body shop. My wife parked her SUV a little too close in our garage: my 7yr old kicked open the door..it went bang into the right passenger side door of the M. :(. Kids being kids I guess.....

Do you really need more power? I suggest you leave it alone

Chillioil 03-10-2012 06:10 PM

Sorry to hear for the ding and your kids should deserve his ass kicked btw. IMO tune has nothing to do with mileage, just tune it whenever you want to.

Go with the dinan tune. U will love it. As far as actual power only the renntech tune outperforms it.

Any of you guys know when Dinan offers 10 or 20% off their products? Just curious...Saw it at some point last year. Cannot remember...

Defib 03-13-2012 04:04 PM

Their 10% off discounts are usually once a year around September/ October. I've never seen a special from them in the Spring/ Summer.

I would go with Dinan tune as well, since it's the only one that does NOT void the warranty. Gives you a huge peace of mind modifying your car in case somethind does go wrong.

Go for it!

Keep us posted. Are you going to do the 1/4mi results before and after the tune?

stlcity 03-29-2012 07:05 AM

Okay guys I am sold....It is a freaking monster after the tune..I'm a believer. The truck appears lot more responsive on initial acceleration. I do not have any objective numbers to go by but subjectively I can tell a difference. I might Dyno it at some point if I have the time. Driving is fun again :)

Would recommend it..unlock the potential...

Take it to the drag strip to see what it's running.

Have you noticed a fuel economy drop?

jlee 03-31-2012 09:39 PM

$3500 is alot of money for a tune.

I'm thinking $2500 tops....

Take a look at ActiveAutowerks or Eurocharged, there is also ESS

iMpower 04-11-2012 12:15 AM

How long did the Dinan upgrade take and did you have to send your ECU in?

jlee 04-22-2012 08:04 AM

Evolve an Active also have tunes out there.

Anyone purchase these other kits yet ?

Jeff

Took the dealer few hours. Mainly because Dinan is west coast based and does not open until late morning EST. They had to send the ECU in to Dinan.
