X5M used prices moving?

I feel like if I can find a 2010 with less than 30k miles for around $60k, I'll be doing OK, but will there be another big round of price drops on the X5M? Will there be a glut soon with 24 month lease returns?

Seems like 30-40k has been lopped off the top on these. Plenty of them on the market for optimistic prices, but they sit and sit. Are we soon at a place where they trade in the mid-40's like the E60 M5 and virtually worthless without warranty?

Help me understand so I can plot a strategy.

I believe that cars in the $100k range and above always take a bigger hit. If you can buy an $80k used car, you could just as easily (probably) buy a $100k new car. Just depends on if you want a "value". Do you buy a 2 year old X5M with 30k miles on it or a brand new M3? I think (and hope) the decline in prices will start to slow after 2 years old.

Just my thought.

PS. I have a 2010 with 42k miles and $20k of extra options (including 100k mile warranty) that I will sell you for $65k :) I want the new 911.

I think it also moves with gas prices. It's tough owning one right now. I can't imagine holding one for sale.

I doubt it. I think the big drop has taken place and you would not see a major price drop until the next generation shows up. There is no way I would sell mine for 40K, rather keep it. There is nothing wrong with the car, you be hard pressed to find a clean 5.0 for those prices. My wife has V8 GC and gas mileage is worse with her car..

I hope they stay steady, I plan to sell it for the new M5 this fall.

I just bought a 2011 for close to $80K new

$80k for a new one seems to be a good deal. My local dealer offered me $72k for my '11 with 14k miles on it (original MSRP was $97,125) on trade for a '13 X5M at $3k over invoice.

These numbers seem strange.

The Manheim auction shows X5M, 2010 with 20k miles or so selling for $65-$68.
That's wholesale.
Cross referenced against autotrader which has the vehicles in the +$70k-$75k range.

I traded mine to my local porsche dealer for $70k a couple weeks ago. 15k miles and original MSRP of $97,125. I was real happy with the deal.
