ESS or Active Autowerke Tune? How long to wait?

I haven't seen a lot of data comparing tunes on here. ESS seems to be the most popular. I know AA has a long history tuning BMWs. Can anyone shed some insight on which to go with?

Also, how long should I wait before tuning the car? 1k miles?

ESS(no experience with Autowerke), and wait at least till 1200 miles service.

Few here have had ESS and have not heard of any issues.

Thanks. Seems like those are the only two real options (besides Dinan).

Anyone have experience with AA?

Have had Dinan and ESS and switched to ESS because I needed the catless tune for my catless Akra Downpipes.

No issues at all and ease of installation was so easy my kids could have uploaded and downloaded the tune.

The Eflash cable and software is legit!

Thanks. I will be ordering the ESS Tune once I hit the 1,200 mile service.

What about Renntech or PP Performance?

jarodl 07-27-2012 10:30 AM

PP Performance has no US tuning arm.

Renntech is $1,000+ more expensive then ESS and AA and haven't seen anyone who actually has one on their cars.

ESS and AA seem to be the two who actually have a substantial user base out there right now. Don't think you can go wrong with either one, I just chose ESS because I have read about more people with them and no one has had issues.
