New member with 2013 x5M
Hello all. I have been a very active member over on bimmerfest and decided to join xoutpost when I picked up my new x5M. I love this car and my first question is regarding the 1200 mile M service. Does this car get it or not? It seems that it does not, but figured you guys would know for sure. My books make no reference to it, but it was always mentioned on prior M purchases I have made.
|
I do not believe there is a 1200 mile maintenance check for the X5M. I took mine in for a 1200 mile look. All they did was check the truck over and send me on the way. My M3 they changed oil, rear end fluid, brakes etc and it took them about 1.5 hours to do it. .

Not for this one, I be interested to see if M5 would be any different
|
I'm gonna make them change the oil filter and the oil when I go in for my first service at 2000km, regardless of what the dealer says. This car cost 200k here in Asia and I plan to keep it for a while.
If you lease the car or won't keep for a long time, then just do what the computer says, dealers or buyers won't pay extra just because you do more oil changes. |
Thanks guys. The M5 does have the 1200 mile service and it also applies to the M6/M3. It appears the x5M/x6M are the only M cars that do not get the 1200 mile service.

That is strange since the engine is practically the same

Change the oil yourself after a thousand or so miles. Gets all the little metal thingies out from the initial break in.
