How many miles on stock Brakes?

Hey guys,

I have almost 31K miles on my 2010 X5M with the 4 year factory warranty/maintenance ending this December. I have never replaced any of the brakes/rotors yet so I'm wondering how long they normally last people here?

Thanks!

Geez. These X5 Ms are already 4 years old? Oh how time flies.

It really depends on your driving style, id say anywhere between 25-60k. I know it's a large range... If you have a good relationship with your SA, he will do the job for you even if you're not due.

Thought of extending the warranty?

Yeah, I know, the 4 years flew by! lol. Yes that is a large range. I'll be going in for service in a few weeks. I'll ask them at that time what they can do but I won't hold my breath hoping they will go ahead and do it early. hehe. Any idea what the dealer charges for brake and rotor replacement?

As far as my driving style, I would say I normally on the aggressive side getting only about 200-250 miles per tank. But having said that, I don't usually brake late and hard. I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry in that regard.

Yes, I plan on buying the BMW extended warranty for up to 7yr/70K. Still deciding if I need the platinum vs the gold, as I've never had any nav electronics problems except for the rear view camera being glitchy. Buying the extended maintenance makes no sense for me given how many miles I drive per year lately.

My wife does mainly in town driving and I feel she is a hard braker compared to myself. Were at 27k and the pads are still quite thick. Idrive states, 30K for the fronts, 51K for the rears (but we all know how that can change in a second)

Bought mine as high mileage unit. I'm at 75k now. Fronts were replaced, at 35k, just pads from what I can tell.

I just did bakes all around. Pads and a resurface for the rear, pads and rotors up front.

My 2010 just reached 36k were only at the dealer last week for brake line fluid change. No pads yet I don't think. How expensive are they to replace urself?

A little shocking that brake parts can be this spendy, but I guess when the car cost somebody the better part of $100K..

Rear pads were maybe $200, but pads AND rotors (+1 sensor) for the front like $1200 :yikes:

Super easy repair. I went to dealer for parts, but I like that they have record of factory M parts purchases and repairs to go along with this car to support the records if/when I trade or sell on.
