2007 x3 needs gas pedal pump to start

so... our 2007 x3 cranks and turns but wont start unless i pump the gas pedal few times. if i give contact and wait 15 seconds then it starts without gas pedal pump albeit if I hold the key in start position and it cranks 3 times. idles and drives fine. new battery. fuel pump replaced 40K miles/2 years ago. ideas?

I would bet $20 it’s the iddle control valve, they have a tendency to get stuck due to gunk, black sticky substance. Remove and clean with MAF cleaner.

turned out it was a faulty camshaft sensor
