Oil Level Sensor GASKET without removing the stiffening plate

Hi guys,

My 2004 X3 2.5i with 85K Oil Level Sensor GASKET is leaking.
I'd like to know if I can replace the gasket without removing the stiffening plate.

I'm not sure if I have got your vehicle details correct, but this is the procedure for replacing the sensor. Would appear that the plate needs to be removed.
