Passenger wing mirror problem

My 04 wing mirror no longer functions properly at the start, before it did...
Replaced the mirror 9 Mo's ago....all went well.
1 week ago the mirror stopped dipping on reverse and stays put .
Strangly, In addition both mirrors P & D are adjusted by the circle directional button (as long as the switch slide button is positioned in the driver direction)

Can you figure?

I've decided (seeing that the temps have dropped) for the rest of the cold season I'll not use the auto dip reverse feature. Trying to avoid the pain of replacing the motor. One less project. Much easier to slide the button towards the passenger side.

I have exactly the same problem. Mirror stopped dipping on reverse selection out of the blue last summer. My working assumption is that its a software setting that somehow reset (maybe when I pulled the battery?), because the mirrors still adjust fine.

Possibly,,,, I've pulled, replaced, disconnected the battery plenty of times... never experienced that. But finally I removed/replaced the mirror motor and it's been working constantly for the last 10 mo's. However, I picked that mirror off of an 08 e83. So I'm thinking -AGE-

Here we go again!
After a couple weeks not dipping, then not functioning...I decided to address the passenger wing mirror. Made the replacement and still not dipping... but now, I can make adjustments via the drivers master switch, I'll take what I can get at this point.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fe375e1d69.jpg

Readying for the switch

Done this for both mirrors...take the cover off and blow out the dust!

Water, debris, moisture settles in this area which can be the cause of the mirror's motors going out...I guess.
So I took liberty to drill in a couple of "vents" in the covers!
I can only hope I will NOT be back here in another year!

Backed up late this evening and what do you know...
The dip is back when gear is put in reverse!
I guess the G5 unit takes some time to recognize the new unit.

Consistently working now the passenger mirror.
I have the notion of not using the dip feature all the time.
Say about how many times out of a week do you put the car in reverse?[emoji848]
