Rear Muffler
 

I have a 2005 X3 with over 250K miles on it. It serves as my beater / spare vehicle these days.

It's getting loud and the rear muffler appears to be the problem. I've been searching for a new rear muffler, but other than a dealer (who wants well over $1000.00), I can't seem to find anything.

There seem to be a few out there for a 3.0 for less money. What is the difference between the 2.5 and 3.0 mufflers? Basically, I'm concerned about the fittings.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the 2.5 to the 3.0.
However, my 2.5 doesn't have the quieting flap. But some owners disengaged it anyway.
