High Pressure Headlight Washers

Hello everyone!

I have BMW X3 with Adaptive Xenon headlights without headlight washer system (washer jets). However, I will need to install this system before I can register my car in Europe (my car is the US model).

Any comments how to do it (and where can I find needed parts for reasonable price etc)? I would appreciate all useful information a lot! I have a lot of free time, so I prefer to do installation work
by myself:)

welcome to x3/x5 world !

first duty is to post pics. I'm pretty sure you can do the retrofit, but as all retrofits go it will cost you a pretty penny.

Not sure if you have to buy a new bumper though, or that works out... hopefully someone will be able to help you!

Why do you have to do this? I live in Germany and see Euro spec X3/5 all the time. Not all have headlight washers. What source of information are you using?

In Finland if you have Xenon lights, you will have to have washers for them. If I would have normal lights I should not need washers at all. Because this car was pre-owned one it was difficult to find specs all you need:) At least I found the heated front seats :).

Br,

JuuKoo

ps. You may not need to buy a new bumper, because washers should be installed to the plastic part which is above of the front bumper. I am waiting for official response from BMW Europe how to do this job with the "easiest" way...(I mean by myself, not BMW service installation, that could be pretty expensive one).

ps2. One, not so nice, cell phone picture from my car...

Well, do not ask from me:) It's just a law in Finland (Europe??), especially if your Xenon lights are E1,E3 type approved ones.

I am waiting official comment from AKE (AKE = The Finnish Vehicle Administration) for this issue, but I already know 99% sure that I will need to install these washers...

Moro,

At least there used to be a retrofit kit for this until the end of 2004. Hope this helps.
Part number: 61600304331

See online:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...40&hg=61&fg=95

Here is also some installation documentation I was able to find. Not a lot though.

I might have the same issue when I export and import mine... We'll see... The ones with the North American colored bumbers would be of different type but maybe these old type of washers will still fit... I don't know if it is possible to retrofit the ones that pop out of the bumper... without high costs anyway.

Moro!

Thank you for the pictures! I am waiting feedback from my dealer about this retrofit kit, let's see what happens:)

Let me know what you find out and what is the official requirement. I will go through this hassle in September...

I am expecting that I also need to add a rear fog. That might be tricky as well. I think I need at least a new LCM that has logic for and a switch for rear fogs. I don't know whether it is prewired... Have to do some investigation once it gets a little warmer.

Reattached the other document.
