Thule Snowcat 5401 Review

Very happy with the product. Took me 15 minutes to set it up. 15 minutes to take it down. Holds up to 4 snowboards or 6 skies. Each clamp has a lock so you can leave your boards/skies on the car over night. Wind noise wasn't that bad either. Can't even hear a difference if the inside roof is close. With the inside sun roof open, it gets a little bit more noisey. There was also a lost of MPG. With the rack and boards, I was getting 19 mpg. That was with 3 snowboards on the rack and 4 people + luggage in the car. Normally I get 23 mpg on my daily commute. The snowcat also didn't scratch the black rails which I am very happy with. I highly recommend this product if you don't mind losing some gas mileage.

I also want to add Thule North America was great. It came missing some parts and they overnight the missing parts to me free of charge. Here are some pics.

I got the same rack, very happy with it also. Got mine from Amazon.

got 2 of those babies, they work great. I got mine %20 off at a local retailer who was having a sale. You can even cram 3 pairs of double tipped skis on each side too.

I got them from www.prolineracks.com $160 no tax and free ship.

I would like to do something similar, but to carry less than 100lb of lumber for very short distances. Can anyone comment on this product for this use (and a fair amount of rope / bungee)?

Trying to see if we can get rid of our truck between the roof mount for occasional 8' - 10' stock and or a couple pieces of plywood and a trailer for the big trips. In either case I am never going to have to travel more than 2 miles or over 40 mph. Thanks in advance.

Recommend you look at the Thule load bars and Thule Crossroad 450 attachment feet. Fit perfectly on OEM roof rails. I have used a set on three vehicles now (including an X5 and the current X3).
