Be Getting 1!
Traded in my Mini CooperS!
I will be ordering a white with black interior 2.5 X3 sometime this week. Any1 has pix of the combination? :) Is there any things to take note of? "Problem" Thanks! |
Wow, that will be a change. The Mini Cooper is a handling machine, not that the X3 can't hold its own but the Mini is crazy.
You might want to go for the 3.0 X3. I only say this because the 2.5 X3 did so bad in the states, BMW pulled it after 2 years in and made the 3.0 standard. |
Thanks Wagnes! Yes i know it a big different from the Mini but my second car is Z4 and having both 2 door car for the last 2 years, i just need something with a little more space.
What is the main reason BMW pull the 2.5 out of the U.S? |
Sales I believe. I had a X3 3.0 as a loaner while my X5 was getting serviced and it was awsome. Go for it.

Nothing wrong with the americans nor with the 2.5 engine. It's a very good engine. I got a X3 2.5 loaner once and couldn't feel the difference with my 3.0 while city driving. |
Thanks guys! I am arranging for a test drive on the 3.0l tomorrow. Price different in my country is around US$15,000 for the 2.5 and 3.0l. Crazy pricing here!

Damn definately not worth an extra 15k just for the 3.0

IMO, X3 with 2.5 is more than enough for day to day use, including weekends to Sentosa or drive up north! Good luck in your purchase! |
Thanks simoncpw! Are you from Singapore!

Unless you're a speed demon, the 2.5i will do, especially with the price difference! Wow, 15k is a bit much to ask for. In the US, there was a $6k difference, about $2k once you added on the optional stuff that came standard on the 3.0i.
Since Americans love more power and more creature features, the 3.0i sold about 2-3x better than the 2.5i, which is why BMW pulled it out. After 19 months and about 25k miles, there's only been on recall (ignition coils) and one problem area. The engine made a "diesel clatter" at idle which they attributed to a weak belt tensioner. Otherwise it's been trouble free, surprising since our X3 has pretty much all the options that could possibly break. |

Honestly i don't feel much different from both engine, so think i will go for the 2.5l! Another question, is the X3 consider the old platformof the 3 serier? E46? |
