Stock 7-series wheels on X3?
New member... Does anyone know if I can put 7-series (e38) 19" stock wheels on an 04 X3 2.5? I know the wheels are both 5x120 pattern, but am unsure if the offset is a problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

It's my impression that as long as the offset's within the range that's standard for X3s, and that the total diameter of your setup doesn't differ too much from what's std., then it shouldn't be a problem. I currently have X5 wheels on my X3, and the decision was made after I had the dealer install the wheel I wanted on a trial basis to see if it would be a problem. Maybe your dealer will do the same for you.
You can check out the wheel database to see what the offsets are here: http://www.xoutpost.com/html.php?file=wheels.htm |

The e38 has a bigger offset than the X3 ,meaning that e38 wheels on an X3 will fit but will stick out farther about 33mm(1.3") on the front and 26mm (1.05")on the rear. So,you will have to check on your car if it allows this, but it should be fine! |
Wow! What a great resource (the link posted by alpine rasta) anyone searching through these posts for wheel info should definately look at this link. I believe I'll stick with some 19's off of an X5 as I believe they will fit with no fit issues. Thanks for your posts.

No problem. Let us know what you end up doing, and POST PICS!!! :)

Dont get it!Where do you find the data in the link for the 7 series (e38) wheels you are initially asking about????........You dont! |
I'm not aware of any OEM 19" wheels for the E38 7 series - the biggest wheels were the Style 37 M-Parallels which were 18" wheels. Are you talking about the E65 7 series? If so, look at the Style 95 information. It shows a 9" X 19" and 10" X 19" stagger, both with ET24 offset.

First he asked if he could put 7-series wheels on his X3 and now he just wants to buy some 19" X5 wheels?Really dont know why I bother trying to help some people, sometimes! |
Why so angry powers? I just trying to learn... If you don't want to help, don't. I'm not giving up, just wanting to be mechanically sound. If I knew all of the answers I wouldn't ask! Props to rasta were given because of such a great link that I previously did not know of... I appriciate any cordial convo. about bmers. Not being chastized for a lack of knowledge. In any case, The wheels I would be inquiring about after more research (and reference to rasta's link) are style 121 (e63/e64) 8.5x19 and 9x19 with offsets of 14 and 18 respectively, and style 95 (e65/e66) 9x19 and 10x19 both with offsets of 24mm. If anyone has any "cordial" info as to the fitment on an X3 I would appriciate any input. Again just attempting to learn, and take advantage of the vast knowledge of other BMW fans. Thanks in advance to all input.

Rasta´s link is a great link but has no data on 7-series (e38) wheels and DIDNT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION!!!!! Now you had a look at the link and now you want info on other wheels completely different from the wheels you started this thread with??? Fair enough!Maybe someone one will help you! I most certainly will not. Btw,both myself and Asawadude are interested to know from you where you got the info that the 7-series(e38) had oem 19" wheels??? |
Use this calculator to determine the change in wheel and tire fitment:
http://gs.tolan-hoechst.com/tirecalc.htm You can plug in different combinations until you find the right one. |
I have almost the same problem, as I have an 19" wheels and tires style 89 and would like to install them on X3 (no sport package), so will I need any spacers or something else to put them on? Thanks in advance

Hey pavel, please post pictures of your new wheels when you get them installed! Thanks...

Hi all. I have a E60 535d with exterior sport package and therefore it came with 135M wheels (8x18" ET20 245/40). I changed the wheels and once i also have a blk X3 with H&R springs (1,3"F and 1,2"R), i mounted it on the X3 to see how it looks. The wheels looked a blast on the X3. After some time i had a puncture on a tire (RFT tires - stock on E60) and once it had a much lower diameter tire (25,7" vs stock 27,2" tire diameter) and it increased the speedo error, i decided that it was time to change the tires size. I pulled the trigger on the 235/55-18" and and ride became much more smooth, and the 28" diameter tires fitted without any rubbing issue (even with the front wheels turned to the max as possible). The 28" tire diameter made the X3 looks like a stronger and performer SUV, and decreased the gap between tire and fender (only 3 finger of gap). Now that i got a bit tired of the look of the 135M wheels, i was thinking on 4x front Y149 wheel (9x20" ET24) from the 7-series with 245/40-20" (27,8" tire diameter). What do you think?
