Simple ipod integration

4 Attachment(s)
Hey gang,
New the the X3world board.
I've searched the various ways to hook up an ipod in the X3 without nav.
I was wondering if there was a simple solution. In my other car with a Becker HU you can order an inexpensive factory auxillary adapter as in fist pic.
Then you can order a plug-in to the facutory adapter with an after market ipod adapter as in pic 2.
Is there a factory adapter like this for the X3 radio?

Much thanks,
Jeff

Yes, there is a Aux input available for the X3. See several examples in the STEREO section of the home page - http://www.x3world.com/

In addition to the aux input, there are the ice>Link Plus, and Dice, which allow use of the steering wheel controls, etc. Information on both is available in the "Stereo Systems" forum, and you may also go to the EAS website for more info. Hope this helps.

1 - just install the BMW AUX Adaptor, and connect to the iPod's headphone output using a normal mini phone jack cable. - Simplest, but audio quality is not great.

2 - in addition to the above, add the iPod Dock connector to Audio out adaptor, this allows you to take the audio from the LINE OUT on the iPod. - Much better audio quality.

3 - forget the above and install Dension Icelink+ - it replaces the CD Changer in the car, excellent sound quality, fully integrated and control via headunit / steering wheel control, ID3 Tags Text display, auto charge... etc (search my posts for more info).

I've done all three solutions... all are pretty easy to install. My own 60G iPod is connected to the Icelink+ and left in the car all the time. And I still have the AUX adaptor there so that my wife can plug her iPod in when she is in the car.

Good Luck!
