Anyone install a bike rack on there X3 yet.

Anyone using the OEM rack?

With your name and the word "rack" in the title, let's just say I was expecting some "NWS" stuff!

I would go with this

I have the bmw rack but have not installed it yet...plan to before the weekend...Will let you know how it is

I have a road bike and have the rack that requires the front tire to be removed

I've hauled my bike in the back as well...with both tires off the frame and tires fit easily in the back along with threee other bags

With the front tire on i had to drop the left side seat (the "40%" side if you will)

But i'll get the rack up and running this week

ModCat

that is a solution, though, just my personal preference, i much prefer to keep the back end clean....I've never liked those back side racks....I like everything on top, though that solution will certainly "work" esp if you have more than one bike, kids bikes, etc

The X5 is so tall that I find the top mount racks hard to use.

makes sense mod cat....I have an x3, so....it's a bit easier to reach

I bought mine from these people...good service and top quality. The best thing was being able to configure what you wanted, based on your model car, and it telling you everything you needed to order (such as for roof racks, etc.).

Looks like a good place for racks, Doc...A Thule or Yak Rack will work great...for me, i wanted to keep the lines as clean as possible...I've been hauling bikes around for about 20 years now, and the BMW solution is about as clean as i've seen

Great solutions.

I'd like to keep the lines clean as possible
