Good luck. I took a look at the alldata page of BMW tsb's. I feel so lucky. I wonder if all other brands of cars have this many bugs.

Mine seems to be holding 2nd and 3rd, even 4th longer than it used to even on flat roads. This could be partly due to the adaptive transmission control but when I start off uphill it seems to get stuck in 2nd or 3rd and I have to let off the gas for a few seconds to get it to upshift even though the road has flattened out or even started going downhill a little.

It doesn't happen all the time but you can sure tell when it does. I'm hoping the software update will fix it.

Same here had the wifes X3 updated last week. Since I rarely get to the drive the vehicle, except maybe on weekends , I cant really say whether the shifting has changed. Hmmm.. Does the tranny have to adapt all over again to driving styles?

I did punch the the car/sav, however we want to call it on my way home from the dealership and it did feel that it revved more freely up to the redline now ....I love it!

I had the service bulletin done on my 06 X3 this past week during my one year service at only 5575 miles. I notice a big difference when going up hills. I took the car up to catskills Mts this past wked after the service and it work out great. Also notice that it pick up a lot faster, but got to test some more to confirm. Highly recommend to get the service bulletin done. :iagree:

I got to drive my wife's x3 over the weekend and did notice the difference in shifting. It is much better now and does not hold on 3rd as it use to on slight inclines , I also observed that it will automatically downshift to a lower gear , then having to depress the throttle ever so slightly for it to downshift over steeper inclines.

NOT happy with the upgrade so far, transmisson does shift up when it's supposed to BUT now it down shifts when it doesn't need to :banghead:

reminds me of an S10 Blazer we had in the early 80's
hhmm
must be because the X3 has a GM transmission :thumbdown :thumbdown

That's about the same result as I have had as well. On flat terrain I drive in "D". In spirited driving I drive in "SD" and when on varying elevation hiways I drive in manual mode so I can down and up shift when I feel is the right time. the 5 speed Auto in the 00 328 was a lot better at figuring these things out.

Hi Folks:

Help Please ....
Anyway someone can please cut/paste the service bulletin from the "alldate" website ... because when I hit the link to "alldate" website ... I get the homepage but can not find the BMW tab ???

There was a previous post that identified a BMW service fix ...
GM5 Uphill: SI B2 40506 (delayed Upshift may occur uphill in 3rd or 4th gear).

Is this the same fix as the one on the "alldate" website ???

Thanks
