Make sure it is blue - this could be the source of your problem.

Shouldn't be - keep looking for the blue connector, it should be in the bundle of cables you unwrapped for power.

I still can't find that blue one....
Everything else matches the descriptions and pictures perfectly but i only see the one antenna....... could this be a change on the 07 model??

No change that I'm aware of. However you can purchase an additional antenna from Radio Shack or Best Buy and plug it into your Sirius receiver to make sure the receiver is working correctly.

on the drive in this morning it finally picked up the preview channel...... but cuts in and out....... i'm driving on open freeways so visibility shouldn't be an issue.....

i may try another antenna just to rule that out.

Found the Problem

After several phone calls and visits to the dealer......

BMW wired the shark fin antenna on the 07 X3s incorrectly so it requires the dealer to rewire it before the install will work correctly. I managed to get the tech bulletein from them.... but way more work than I want to take on.....

Dec 7th is the first appt I can get....... joy......

This is the blue connector I was referring to. It needs to be removed and have a curry connector installed in its place to connect to the receiver.

Derek 11-22-2006 02:58 PM

Nope..... the blue connector simply doesn't exist in the 07 model....... the BMW tech printed out the tech doc that shows how to rewire the shark fin antenna itself...... basically a manufacturing mistake ..... I wish it were that simple.....

Are you going to try to fix it yourself? How hard is it to get to the fin?
