X3 in Snow

We just got some now in my area and the X3 kicks all sorts of snow-butt all over the road. I don't have the sport package and have the stock tires and I was passing all sorts of other SUV's, etc. that were slipping and sliding all over the place! It does better than I expected and even though this is my second X3, I haven't had much of an opportunity to get it out in the white stuff too much. Between near 50/50 wt dist, DSC and X-drive, I'm in! Looks like I'm an X-fan for life!!!!!!!!!!

We haven't been home in 4 months and missed two snow days in Prescott. I can't wait to give ours a try too! Good stuff.

I've got an '04 (manual transmission, no spt suspension) with Pirelli Scorpions. I bought it as a CPO last Spring just before we moved to Santa Fe. It's my seventh Bimmer ( five three's and a fiver), and though I miss the agility of my last 330Ci, I'm quite happy with the X overall (it's a true BMW) and it's a damnsite easier that a 3-coupe for a porky old guy with a blown-out knee to get in & out of-

But I digress - We got a spot of snow (about 20") the week between Xmas and New Years and the city did a truly mediocre job of plowing, but it didn't matter with the X-3 - it just went, no muss, no fuss, no drama. As usual, the weather/road conditions weren't the issue as much as idiot drivers. As a recent transplant from VA to the mtn SW, I'da thought that the populace of a city at 7000', surrounded mountains and ski resorts might have a clue about winter driving, but nooooooooooooooooooooo, it's the same all over. Didn't matter, though, my Xer just did its thing. I don't know that I'd take it in the boonies into the really deep stuff (e.g unimproved logging roads w/3' of snow), but it sure got it dun around here.

Don't forget ICE-butt ;)

We don't see a lot of snow down here but there's usually some ice each year. Last year we got some pretty messy stuff and it was the first time I'd had a chance to really test the X3 in snow or ice. I was blown away. I passed a Land Rover stuck spinning it's wheels on a hill while I cruised right up. I even accellerated up it! Didn't one wheel slip.

Last Monday we had a nice layer of ice on all the roads when I went to work. Everything was glazed over, no snow for traction, just ice like a skating rink. Sure I took it easy, but I didn't feel one wheel slip.

Incredible. :2thumbs:

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention. I have Sport package with Dunlop SP 01's on it too!!!
