X3 LOANER - I Like it.

Wife Driving an 06' Loaner while we wait for the X5 (still nameless) to arrive April 4th at the factory.
.
X3 is really nice & a good choice if you don't need the extra space.
.
X3 is White with Premium & Cold package - very nice.

Nice to hear you like the X3. It's nice.
But maybe this should be in the X3 forum..?
Anyways, what kind of X5?

xnsf 03-11-2007 02:30 AM

the dealer gave you a loaner until you take delivery of your X?

and the X3 is a nice car...especially the 07

i hope you're not thinking about switching the X5 for the X3 ;)...but it would be a great addition to your garage

That's what I like to know too! Why and how?

Mind telling us which dealer you went to maybe next time when I'm buying a new car I can ask for a loaner before they deliver my new car just like you did. :)

Loaner Deal

Loaner is an 06' X3
.
Sold the old car on AutoTrader - 03 Pilot.
.
Had Nashville Mini BMW and Huntsville BMW both working the deal.
.
52,500 for X5 3si, Nevada, Premium, Climate, NAV and 3rd Row.
.
Went with local because the could provide a loaner - 3 weeks.
.
I am just saying that the X3 would be a good choice - but, X5 remains
top dog.
.

X3 is a great choice if you're looking for a bit of utility and a higher driving position in a neat, nimble package that's smaller than the X5 (and most other cars). Forget it if you're looking for luxury, refinement, or a smooth ride.

Don't give me crap for saying this but the Acura RDX is allot more car for the money than the X3. I'm getting an RDX for my daughter after numerous test drives with the X3 that left me very unimpressed. I wanted to like it but other than a smoother power delivery the Acura is much more car, for my money the Acura is the much better buy. The X5 is a different story, just my $.02.

I totally agree with you, can't go wrong with a HOnda, RDX and its turbo planted engine - yes you get effortless delivery of power. But if I may say so though, theirs nothing like a german make in terms of solidity, ride quality and engineering.

You're buying your daughter a turbo charge vehicle....did she learn to drive with the porcha's

Actually, almost every other car is more car for the money when compared to BMW. If you compare numbers, BMWs dont make sense at all. They look like ridiculously overpriced, foolish choices. Almost everyone else gives you more standard features, creature features, and whatnot.

From what I've read in various magazine reviews, the turbo in the RDX is good, but its not quite up to the refinement and smoothness of 6-cyl competitors. The fuel econ isn't that great, and the ride is just as bad, if not worse than the '07 X3.

However, to each his own. I'm really tired of X3 versus RDX comparisons at this point.

Resale value?!

BG624 03-11-2007 05:18 PM

I knew I would hear allot when i compared the Acura with the X3. The X3 in my opinion doesn't deliver. The engine is better that's it. I don't mind fewer creature comforts to get the ride, performance and handling but the X3 has neither, just the high price, sorry.
The X5 is expensive but has the creature comforts (if you pay for them) and also delivers the ride and handling you want. Hey BMW doesn't have to be better than the competition with every model.
On a positive note I can't wait for my X5 to be delivered, starting to see them on the road and they are beautiful. I was not a big fan of the old model but the new X5 is the perfect combination of looks, handling, hauling capacity and overall performance.
No my daughter did not learn to drive a turbo car on my Porsche, she's not quite ready for that.

I question whether you've actually driven the X3. I have both an X3 and an X5, and the X5 isn't even in the same league as the X3 in the handling department. We bought the X3 for the sportier performance and the bigger cargo space, and got the X5 to get a couple more inches shoulder room in the back seat for carrying three passengers.

I spent quite a bit of time in the X3, it's a nice car just not worth the $ difference over the RDX. Just my opinion, it's a free country. The X5 4.8 is in a whole different league in every respect as it should be for the price difference. Spend a little time in the RDX and see if the X3 is worth allot more or not. It wasn't to me but that's what makes horse racing. Maybe I should not have made negative comments but these forums aren't for just praising these cars.

I could not disagree more....................

I test drove the RDX before I purchased my 07 X3 as this was one of the SUV's I was considering along with a number of others.

I can categorically say this was the least impressive vehicle of all the cars I test drove.

The RDX is a turbo-charged 4 cylinder and drives like one - it is peppy with little discernable torque below 4000 rpm ( unlike the X3 here max torque is 2750 rpm.) Fine if you want a sports car.

The interior was a bit cramped for my long legs and the dash layout seemed cheap and unattractive, almost to the point of being annoying? The ride was a bit choppy and I could not see myself being at all comfortable in this car for more than 1/2 of an hour, much less a trip to the mountains.

The rear cargo are with the seats up is a smallest of all the cars I tested, by far, and not a whole lot better with the rear seats down. So much for storage and passengers.

The car comes with no luggage rack options or trailer hitch accessory according to the salesman. Both of which I require. Coupled with the low 6" ground clearence, I quickly realized this is not a vehicle I would want to take skiing.

The 2007 X3 is far superior car for my needs - I would have been very unhappy if I had purchased the RDX.

Cheers,

BB

This thread can go on and on so I'll end by saying that for me the X3 was not worth the additional $ over the RDX. We all have different needs which is why there are so many choices out there. I did not say I didn't like the X3, just that for me it wasn't worth the additional money.

Bye
