does this apply to ZF transmission only, If I am not mistaken the 05's have a GM trans.(which sucks)

Sounds interesting. Let us know how it works out if you decide to give it a shot.

Yea, whoever tries this, I'm interested to see the result, if there is any.

All X3s have the GM transmission, whether it's facelifted or not.

At this point I am ready to try anything. Although it is not my car, and only get to drive it on some weekends and days, I find the trans Sluggish, Lazy, Boring and almost horrible for a BMW.
I have had the TSB software update done which eliminated the 3rd sticking on slight inclines, but now its to shift happy.

My personal car is a different German make and I feel that I have absolute control with my foot on when I want it to shift. Whether driving leisurely or spirited.

The loaners I have driven 325i and and 328i were like that too, being able to have your foot take control of the shift points. Certainly not on the X3 we own.

Once person reported that he noticed a change also. Someone this board should really try it.

Yes, we all have the GM transmission. But in reality it has nothing to do with the tranny, only the computer that controls the tranny.

It simply resets what the tranny has learned about your driving, which could be good or bad - depending on how you look at it...

Anyone try it yet?

RastaGurl 04-15-2007 05:09 PM

I just tried it on my '06, and it seems to shift a lot more smoothly. We'll see how long it lasts.

Hi Guys,

I just tried it and YES it does make difference on the X3.
I've got an Australian 3.0 and gear changes are A LOT Smoother, especially noticable going from 2nd to 3rd.

Regards
Rod

I tried it as well on our 07 3.0si and it made a big difference but after a couple of weeks of the wife driving in traffic to work its back to its abrupt shifting but at least I know how to fix it now.
