Auto tranny in 3.0si

Hi,

Does anyone know the transmission reference number used in the current X3 3.0si? I think it cames from ZF but I'm not sure...

If so, it should be one of these but which one?

1st Generation Torque Weight

6HP-19 400N.m 72-77kg

6HP-26 600N.m 84-89kg

6HP-32 750N.m 99kg

2nd Generation Torque Weight

6HP-21 450N.m 73.5-78kg

6HP-28 700N.m 92.5kg

(6HP-34) 850N.m 99kg

It's my understanding that the X3 6-speed auto trans is the same one used in the current 3-series, if that helps any.

No, its the same GM tranny thats used in the pre-refreshed X3's...

Only the 335i, get the new ZF 6 speed. The 328 and other models get the older crappy GM tranny... :(

The pre-refreshed X3's (2004-2006) had a 5-speed auto, so this 6-speed auto transmission must be new to the X3 for 2007.

Wait a minute I thought the 328 and all 3 series had 6 speed auto. How can it be the older transmission since it was 5 speed?

The ZF high-performance 6AT was introduced first in the 2007 model year. In 2006, all the E90s had the GM-transmission. This year, only the 335i gets the high-perf. ZF.

The transmission from the 328i, '06 E90s, and '07 X3s are the same. They're not "bad"......its just they're kinda sluggish on the shifts. And they're nothing special.

Also, in order to clarify things, here in Europe, the transmissions are not the same accross the model range. Normal, if you consider the diesel models (high torque)...

You can use realoem.com above to have a confirmation on this and choosing either the 3.0D or the 3.0sd models (the same applies to the 335i and the 335d)
