How much noise is too much
 

Hi There:
I am new to BMW's and am not sure what to expect. My X3 now has 3000 kms and I notice it is beginning to have a few noises. The weather is getting colder - around freezing - so that may play a part but I thought a BMW would be silent except for road noise.

Should I worry?

What rattles are you experiencing?

If its the door frame, I thought BMW should have resolved this by now (this was fairly common in '04s and '05s). However, they should have a fix.

Is there a fix if you have an 04/05 model?
It doesnt rattle when i drive but I noticed the bolt with a washer that holds the hinge seems to move a bit if you open the drivers door fully......
Seems like the funny shaped bolt needs tightening....

:iagree: what noises? Are there engine noises, mechanical, wind, etc?

The noises seem to be body rattles whenever you go over hard bumps such as railway crossings. They are coming from the passenger side back from around the windows - maybe - have not had a chance to recreate wih someone back there to be more specific.

those rattles are here to stay...you can try to have service repair them - there is a TSB about moving the stricker plate that holds the lock against the pillar but in our 3 long years all we did was count the days until the lease was up....
