I received this information from my CA in late July, reading from USA BMW Bulletin 06-X3-01 "Model Year 2006 Product Information":
He had the following information from BMW NA regarding the MY2006 X3: - The 2.5i will not be offered.
- Exterior
- Front and rear bumpers will be the same color as the body
- The side window trim and grill will be finished in chrome
- Sport Package
- MSRP = $1800 (up $300 from MY'05)
- Body colored side skirts
- Front and rear bumpers, including the wheel arches, will be body color
- Sport Package wheels will be style 192M with all-season tires
- M Sport steering wheel replaces the sport steering wheel. Heated steering wheel is no longer an option with the Sport Package.
- Sport Package Wheel Upgrade (Option 2ML) is priced (MSRP) at $300 (down $200 from MY'05). The wheel is style 192M fitted with performance tires. The rear performance tires are wider and have a lower profile than the base Sport Package tire. The rear tire is 18x9 - 255/45R18.
- Unchanged - sport suspension, sport seats & shadowline trim. Leather must also be ordered (extra cost) because sport seats do not come in Sensatec leatherette.
- Standalone Options
- 18-inch wheels (style 113) with all-season tires (Option 2CB), price = $500
- Power Folding Mirrors (Opt 313) have been discontinued
- No color changes
- Base MSRP is 36800 (up $500 from MY2005) These prices are US delivery.
There was no mention of engines in the bulletin. My CA said that the 2006 model had the same engine as the 2005.
I think that is as for sure as it gets.
The Euro models get a new 2.0i gasoline engine, an M-sport suspension and appearance package (may be different than the US ZSP option). Of course, the Euro models have diesel engine options, too.
