Pics of my X3
2004 X3 2.0d Blk with Grey interior.
Mods: 1. Bumpers, door handels, and side skirts painted. 2. M rear bumper 3. All windows tinted 4. H&R lowering springs (1,6"F and 1,5"R) 5. 135M wheels (OEM E60 M package: 8JX18 ET20) with 235/55-18. Yes i have now a higher tire diameter (27,2" vs 28"). No more silly gap between the fenders and tyres. 6. Custom exhaust: rear muffler bypass with 2x76mm tips. Now i car hear the turbo "woosh" from the exhaust when it changes gears at max boost pressure. http://photos1.hi5.com/0011/169/716/2O3YDE169716-02.jpg http://photos1.hi5.com/0012/004/902/1OgEXS004902-02.jpg http://photos1.hi5.com/0013/498/648/XuJ8cm498648-02.jpg |

1. I don't need it, 2. It would decrease gas milage, 3. It would hide a bit the panoramic roof. And once it is a "mini" suv, it doesn't look that bad at all on reality. As for the X5, it is a priority to have them, imho. http://photos1.hi5.com/0012/635/800/u3CHjo635800-02.jpg http://photos1.hi5.com/0010/782/088/CaCL5B782088-02.jpg |
You actually think roof rails would decrease gas milage, you're kidding right?
Looks good without them by the way. |

Going with the slightly larger diameter tires could help offset that though, as you mentioned, AND fill the large gaps in the wheel wells better. BTW, I like the looks without the roof rails too  . If I could have I would not have gotten them on mine either. I don't need them either but we can't delete them when ordering here in the states :( . |
