Pics of my X3

2004 X3 2.0d Blk with Grey interior.
Mods:
1. Bumpers, door handels, and side skirts painted.
2. M rear bumper
3. All windows tinted
4. H&R lowering springs (1,6"F and 1,5"R)
5. 135M wheels (OEM E60 M package: 8JX18 ET20) with 235/55-18. Yes i have now a higher tire diameter (27,2" vs 28"). No more silly gap between the fenders and tyres.
6. Custom exhaust: rear muffler bypass with 2x76mm tips. Now i car hear the turbo "woosh" from the exhaust when it changes gears at max boost pressure.

Looks good lowered and with the larger diam. tires, how do you find the ride with the H&R springs?

Awesome. It ride like a Kart at speeds above 60mph. It is amazing the capability of making fast turns. It hasn't almost any body roll, and the higher profile tire kept the same confort on the city potholes as with the 17" wheels. But the agressive offset of the E60 wheels has also a important part in the improvement of the capability of turning.

I already bought it without the roof rack because:
1. I don't need it,
2. It would decrease gas milage,
3. It would hide a bit the panoramic roof.
And once it is a "mini" suv, it doesn't look that bad at all on reality. As for the X5, it is a priority to have them, imho.

You actually think roof rails would decrease gas milage, you're kidding right?

Looks good without them by the way.

Maybe not in US, but i drive very often at speeds above 100mph, sometimes 130mph, and if the roof rails add drag and decrease top speed, it will also decrease gas milage. ;)

Does your X3 have the Sport Package? Mine does. I was really asking about the comfort level with the H&R springs because I believe the SP uses stiffer springs, shocks and anti-roll bars already. The softer shocks of a standard model might ease the ride with the H&R springs compared to the SP version. I really like the look of the lowered setup but am worried the H&R springs will make it ride too rough. It's pretty firm as it is and I don't want it to get any harder.

Going with the slightly larger diameter tires could help offset that though, as you mentioned, AND fill the large gaps in the wheel wells better.

BTW, I like the looks without the roof rails too  . If I could have I would not have gotten them on mine either. I don't need them either but we can't delete them when ordering here in the states :( .
