Just registered and thought I'd post a few pics of my X3. I'll pretty much let the pictures speak for themselves, but it's a 2007 facelift model which I've had for just over a year. Excellent car, and other than wishing it had a bit more grunt (and that's with an ECU remap to around 190bhp), it does everything I could ask of it.

Enjoy:

Very nice.......... We have an 07 3.0si....... I have got to get my wife trained to drive a manual because the X3 would be so much better with the manual instead of our jerky slush box.

2007 X3 2.0d

Hello,

Just registered and noticed your excellent pictures. Two months ago, I purchased the same model (jul 2007) but in black. I am interested in the ECU remap you have mentioned - did you purchased a new ECU or just remap the existing one? did you use an authorised dealer ? is it worthing the modification - and finally could you specify cost?

thanks

ijordan, I went to one of the many specialists that we have in the UK that undertake ECU remapping. This was done by simply plugging in a laptop, copying my existing (factory) map, and then uploading a revised map from the generic maps, that they have , and hey presto. It's not approved by BMW, but then most manufactuers frown on this sort of thing.

I would say that it's a worthwhile modification from the right dealer - I used a firm based in Bromsgrove called Chipped UK, but they seem to get a lot of bad publicity, so I probably wouldn't recommend them, but there seem to be plenty more firms out there.

The cost was £235 which I thought was fair considering the extra performance.

By the way, the car's now been sold, and has been replaced by something a wee bit quicker......
