Fuel Efficiency Tips...

Got any besides not driving? :D

Current Average: 21.4 MPG (Lots of Highway Driving!)

If you own an X don't worry about it.
Nothing going to change so the question
is moot.

Didn't we already cover this in another thread?;)

Lighten your right foot. Drive smoothly. Use cruise control when conditions permit on freeways (no major mountains in NJ so hills are not an issue).

I averaged 8.7l/100km (27 miles to the US gallon) with a 335i in mixed driving, including a friend who was determined to unleash 306bhp many times. I can get 21 miles to the gallon in mostly suburban driving in the X3.

use cruise control

I find that cruise in hilly section not so good, it will down shift instead I speed up a little before the hill and hold high gear.

My 4.4 X5 will get over 20 to 22 on the highway at an average speed of 79, not so bad.

Here are seven tips that could save you a few $$$$$....1-) REFUEL EARLY IN THE MORNING, IF POSSIBLE RIGHT BEFORE THE SUN COMES OUT..... 2-) DON'T REFUEL IF YOU SEE THE FUEL TRUCK PUTTING FUEL IN THE TANKS OF THE GAS STATION. WAIT AT LEAST A DAY FOR THE CONTAMINATED FUEL TO SETTLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TANKS BEFORE REFUELING AT THAT GAS STATION....3-) BMW RECOMMENDS TO USE CHEVRON PREMIUM TYPE FUEL....4-) TRY TO USE MORE FREEWAYS......5-)REDUCE THE APPETITE FOR SPEEDING (HARD TO DO WHEN YOU DRIVE THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE!)...6-) USE YOUR CRUISE CONTROL MORE OFTEN...7-) AVOID ANYTHING THAT CAUSES DRAG ON YOUR CAR, LIKE USING YOUR WINDOWS DOWN WHEN USING THE FREEWAY.

Number 1 there is a crock and misconception. The EPA and other agencies did tests on that 'rumor', the average temp of fuel coming through the system is exactly the same. The density does not change.
