resistor at door

does anyone know what the multipin socket in the drivers footwell on the door frame behind a 3"x3" removable door does. there is a plug with a singlr resistor in it and can't remember if it was plugged in or not...thanks:dunno:

Mine is labeled (molded in) "OBD", so I assume that this is the OnBoard Diagnostic port, which is a standard port for checking diagnostics. In the US, it is even used for pollution checks at inspection!

do you know why it has a resistor across a couple of terminals. It's in the cover for the port

That is the OBDII socket. I was told the resistor was there so when you pull the cover off it tells the computors to talk to the testers. Frankly, I find it makes not a damn difference either way... nothing to worry about. Maybe next time the FSE is at the dealer, I'll ask him. Because Nobody has been able to tell me a real reason... and thats at the dealer!
