Trim Choice: to retrofit
I want to replace the Dark Sycamore wood trim that's currently in my X3, and put in either the Brushed aluminium (post-facelift), dotted-pattern aluminium, or Matte Gray trim. My interior is gray.
Right now, I'm leaning towards the Matte Gray simply because it looks very good in the DIY pictures, and costs WAY less. For instance, a single door pull costs $19,53 versus $91 for either of the aluminiums. But I'm concerned that it might feel cheap. I've never seen the Matte trim in person; the 118i had a different version I think. So, what do y'all think? This is especially directed towards international members, since I know a lot of Americans like their interiors to look like 16th century Victorian furniture. Now: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...3/CIMG2797.jpg Titan Matte (from this DIY) http://www.xoutpost.com/images/articles/209/25.jpg Aluminium Wolkenschliff (dotted-pattern, sorry its black interior) http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...4&d=1134722342 http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...5&d=1134722342 And the Brushed Aluminium (post-facelift; obviously I'm only getting the door handles and centre console) http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...8&d=1161040660 |
pics? I don't remember what any of them look like.

Agreed. Need pics.
I also get the feeling you resent being American sometimes.:stickpoke |
Pics added.

Kinda like the first photo and bottom link the best. I am not sure about the middle one that looks like it has a bunch of circles on it.
Problem is that you have gray (or as you would spell grey  ) interior. These trim options look best with black leather, IMO. |

Ok then, I would probably go for brushed alum out of the choices. Like fseth said, it would blend in a little with the grey interior.
What about Grey Poplar wood trim? Attachment 26786 :dunno: |

I like grey poplar the most

I vote for the Brushed Aluminum. IMO it really looks good with the light grey interior.
But then, I'm biased... (see sig ;) ) |
I would keep the wood over any of the photos shown. The interior is cold, and needs something to warm it up. No, I am not American, and I haven't figured out how Queen Victoria got back into the 16th century, but there you have it.
If you are thinking about the matte plastic, just buy one and try it, for $20. |
