Did you put a lower profile tire on these rims? (it doesn't look like it) Your speedometer is probably off if those are the original X5 tires... bigger overall diameter means speedo shows 60 and you're going 70+.

Aren't those 87's on your X5? Those are the ones I'd like to get for my X3 but wonder about the speedo error it might cause (as you mentioned). I know of a place where I can get replica 87's that are the correct size for the X3 but they wouldn't fill the wheel wells up any more than what I have now.

Hmmmph... what to do... :(

The overall diameter or the 87's would be the same as all the E53 tires. So the speedometer difference would be the same as what the OP has now. The difference is that you have the option of lower profile tires on those rims... but don't have room for lower sidewalls on the 87's.

If I'm thinking right, you may be able to get it programmed to compensate for the wheel size. It wouldn't be a regular software update, but I have had to get a custom "vehicle order" before from PuMA for programming away certain issues. I know the vehicle speed is calculated by the DSC through wheel speed sensors, and a custom vehicle order may be a possibility to change those parameters. Worth a call to the shop foreman or the local dealer. (I say shop foreman because he would know the most about this)

That looks suprisingly good, great job!

Looks great - not just the wheels but the whole vehicle! I love a clean, black car. They are just too damn hot for AZ. I've had a few and would buy one again, but only as a 3rd vehicle and not daily driver. But damn they look nice!!!

Thanks guys!
Yes, this are OEM X5 wheels with 255's up fropnt and 285's rear. The speedo shows 60 and its actually doing 70mph or so... no biggie.

As I said before, it may be worth a call to the local BMW dealer's shop foreman to inquire about getting a vehicle order for programming. That would fix the speedo problem. But I'd only do it if you plan on staying with the bigger wheels permanently, otherwise like you said... no biggie

They look nice - If anyone is looking for X3 19" OEM Wheels & Tires factory mounted & balanced (New - never mounted) let me know. I have a few sets left

I traded my X5 with those wheels for an X3, but I put the non-sport wheels back on before trading. I have a set of those 19s in my garage, and I was thinking of getting rid of them for cheap. I didn't know they would fit the X3 also. It's the wife's car, and I'm not sure if she would like the speedo being different, so I'll probably still unload them.
