Differential and Transaxle fluid change
Had the tranny fluid and filter changed for a '05 X3 with 59,XXX miles at the Stealership ($350.) Service was done at the dealership so I wasn't able to see the drain pan or the condition of the fluid....
The difference afterward was not that really noticeable. However, I am planning on keeping this car in the family for a while so I am going to service the other tranny related fluids too. Got the 3 Litres of Redline diff fluid and a litre of the BMW transaxle fluid from Bavauto. Will post the results from my appoinment with my Indy soon. |

Okay, after a week, the difference isn't that noticeable in terms of driving feel. As suspected, the front and rear diff fluids were very clean. The transaxle fluid however was black. I am so glad this was changed out given the some of the tranaxle failures I have read. Would I do again? Yes- I paid for one hour of labor. |
Yeah, as posted on another board, the transfer case fluid is the first one to get dirty, so I too had a indy shop perform a change (along with ATF, brake fluids) at Inspection II.
