Opinion/observation on X3 running boards
I bought an '08 X3 with the running board options for my wife. It was on a car on the dealer lot so I took it, they looked nice enough. However, I find that the car is too low to use the running boards as a step. and they are actually a pain as I need to step OVER them. Plus, there is a nice clean spot on the boards that matches the dirty spot on my pant leg! :(
Anyone find them useful other than looks? Not sure they are worth the cost for those of you buying new. |

I really like the way they look. But found them very annoying when I tested a car with them for exactly the reason you say. Those who like them have very small kids and they help them climb in. But I think its a looks thing only....

I like them
My X3 is with boards and I do like them a lot. Besides the looks they are handy when hand washing the car with a sponge. I can easily reach the whole roof. My kids (6 and 9 years) do step on the boards when getting in/out. I learned easily how to sit in / step out without touching the boards with my pants it is not that difficult.
