key programming

Hi, New to the forum. I have an '06 X3 w/premium/M sport pkg. and after reviewing my manual wanted to have some options activated. I took it to the dealer and they said they were only able to do a few. I asked the to activate: central locking system, seat programming, daytime running lights, pathway lighting, auto lock if not opened within a certain timeframe and the touch signaling. Apparently they said they could not activate the touch signaling, the auto lock does not work and they did not go over how to program the seat memory :dunno: Do they have to actually do that or can I do it myself. Really do not want to go back if I do not have to. The service rep said in his 13 yrs. at BMW never heard of these options. My response - because I read my manual. Any help or direction would be great. Aloha

Your dealer isn't very knowledgeable. All three of the ones they missed, are programmable.

Does anyone know if those options are programmable by us the owners? I'm getting ready to remove my MID and install an aftermarket double-din stereo. I'd like to program all my options before I do the install.

hey--
I got those options programmed at the dealer...they are quite stubborn with that stuff. They had told me that my interior motion was not a feature that was programmable--which was absurd.
They need to hook up it to the machine and active/deactivate stuff from a list of options.
The only (from my experience) is through the machine the dealer has in the shop. So try to get it serviced again and hope they let you in as they look over the programmed options--if you get a good service guy he may be able to go over the options with you and let you decide what you want.
best of luck

I have the option in my 5 to auto lock after the car goes over 5mph. Is there such an option on the X5?
