3rd time '06 X3 DEAD
 

Hi,
This is the 3rd time I have came out to start my car and it is completely dead, no lights at all. First time it happened I jumped it and didn't think of anything. Brought it to the local dealership for something else and mentioned it but the SA just blew it off. After about 2 weeks it happened again so I jumped it, but took it straight to the dealership. Of course they ran diagnostic of the battery and all checked out, held charge, so on and so on. Now, after another 2-3 weeks this is the 3rd time it was dead but this time we had it towed in dead as requested by the SA. He mentioned it would remain untouched until they returned to work on Monday since each SA has his own crew + he wanted to check it before it was started and even put a sign requesting not to start, etc. Happen to drive by the dealership and behold my X3 was parked in the lot with the red light flashing which means apparently the evening crew jumped it to move it out of the shop. Now I'm sure since they started it they will probably not find the problem. Any advise on how to deal with this, seems to be incompetent, BMW dealership. Or what may be the problem with it not starting. :confused: thank you for any HELP!!!

If it starts normally most of the time, but is completely dead in the morning when it happens, it is likely an intermittent parasitic draw caused by something electronic not shutting dow which will keep the vehicle from going to sleep and draining the battery. If that is the circumstances I'd call the SA and tell him those details and request one of the more experienced techs to work on it.

I question if there are any competent techs to diagnose the problem. I will bring your comment to their attention tomorrow after they call me and I expect them to say "we couldn't find any problem". Not sure what to do. We do not have more than 1 dealership here that we can go to. I am very upset as I have to take off work each time and they never have any loaners available and depend solely on their shuttle service. :pullhair:
