Can I change steering wheels?

Can I change steering wheels from the standard wheel to a multifunction or sport wheel if my x3 does not have cruise control?

Yes you can, except you need to get a retrofit harness for the cruise control and also a new light control module.

Of course you will also need to get the steering wheel with MFS.

any idea how much that would cost, including labor?

At the point of buying my X3, I added about US$800 to change to the Leather Multi-function Sport Steering Wheel. I think it the original list price was about US$1,500.

My car has cruise control, but I think you can install the wheel yours. The cruise control buttons just doesn't do anything (I don't have bluetooth, the button doesn't do anythng). However, you will have to replace the Air Bag as well (the price I paid was inclusive of the Air Bag and labor).

A new steering wheel and airbag will run over $800...It's very easy to take it off and put the new one. I did it less than 15 minutes...of course I've done it a few times. For a first timer, it should take more than an hour.

BTW, I still have the 4 spokes Leather Multi Function Steering wheel (with Air Bag) if anyone is interested in buying :p
