Inspection I

I just took my car in for an Inspection I service. My service advisor told me that the technican recommended that I also perform an injector flush and a power steering flush because the tubes seem clogged. Shouldn't that be covered under maintence plan? They want to charge around $300 for those 2 services. I have 28K miles on the car. Is this normal to perform these maintance at this milage? Please advice. Thanks!

Not covered because BMW elects to/does not feel that either item is necessary, espc. at 28K. Imo, it is a Stlr chasing a Very high profit margin "service" that you do not need.

I'd decline and tell him why...I'd also ask what "condition" they "found" the PS tubes to be "clogged". The injector stuff is maybe ok, for an older, much higher mileage car/beater; the PS flush at that mileage is pure BS and profit,imo. After I told the SA to get F'd, I'd look for another Stlr.

PS: I'm surprised that Insp1 came so soon, eg 28K miles?

What is Stlr?

stlr = stealer = dealer

Another reason why you guys in the US called them Stealers!!!They really try to rip people off!Whats worse is that they also insult one's intelligence!If the tubes were "clogged" your steering wheel would be heavy and your injectors wouldnt spray properly and thus you car would misfire!!!At 28k ,this isnt even on BMW's Service Schedule????Find another Stealer.

My first oil service was at 13,500, so I am expecting my insp I to come up at 27k miles. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

AutoXer: You are correct...I looked at my records and I had Insp1 at 32K.
I was having a senior moment, :D
