did some offroading in the X3...

So this weekend finally came and as some of you know know from my last post, the X was gonna get its dose of offroading in upstate NY. Well she did great, up in the sticks lol drove up a decently steep trail full of rocks some 8-10" high and a little muddy as well..the end while still uphill was muddy and a lot of ruts and dips which also handled very well when I first saw it I go crap...Im gonna get stuck but not at all!! did not even have to engage DTC, when I finally got to the campsite everyone else had full size dodge, ford, chevy pickups, A nissan Pathinder, Expeditions etc and when they saw the X pull up I saw a lot of head scratching, and questions like "Uhh, that thing made it up here?" "How many times did u bottom out" *I did not bottom out at all* and it was quite an impressive sight to see the BMW hangin with the big boys haha. They still couldnt believe a little Beamer made it up there, the trail was pretty rough I was afraid to drive it too many times didnt wanna ruin anything. Also going back down I tried out DAC and it worked great, put the cruise on to hold it at about 4 MPH and nice and straight and steady she goes. I have a few pics and videos I will post up in awhile. Dont be afraid to take the X's offroad! They do great just need to be gentle...

I enjoy showing people what these BMWs can do off road... Glad to see you had a great time and she handled it all perfectly.

thanks!! Yeah people are pretty impressed, I was showing some people the xdrive classes on youtube and they cant believe the BMWs can do some of that stuff. but thats what you pay for, the engineering for on road handling and offroad capability, and Land Rover's technology in the AWD :)

That is why BMW briefly owned Land Rover after all... To be able to use the wanted technologies and systems, then we sold it and never looked back.

Come to think of it that kind of riding would be really fun for me, and likely the only time I could ever use the hill decent control as this state is as flat as they come... Maybe some time in the future I'll take a road trip vacation and get to drive some nice mountain trails.
