Who has a warning triangle?
 

Manual says that the collapsable orange warning triangle is stored in the right side in the hatch area behind the removable panel with a triangle on it. I guess it doesnt' come standard in US production X3s, at least not mine. Anyone get one with theirs? What countries get them?

By the way, I washed the X3 last week for the first time. I need a rubbermaid step stool to wash the roof. My arms are too short. :( I used a 1 1/2 inch wide paint brush with the metal part that holds the bristles wrapped in duct tape to clean the wheels and especially the lug nut areas and sloted spokes. It works great to clean brake dust. The tip came from an old auto detailing book (Ultimate Auto Detailing, which I think has a newer edition since 1988). The heated seats have been welcome in this cold spell. My seats are so hot on the 3rd setting they could ignite!

it cames on mine but i got mine in Germany...as for the roof i open the door and step up im able to clean the whole roof.

Yeah, the warning triangle only comes in countries where it is mandated. We're too dumb in the US to include and use these in passenger vehicles. I've only seen them used for commercial vehicles. eg. broken down rigs or buses. And then we wonder why all the rear end deaths that occur when one pulls over to fix a flat. Good idea to just get one at the BMW parts counter...for safety.

Otherwise, I too just washed mine using a rubbermaid step-stool so water doesn't roll down the door or onto the door or seat leather when lathering/washing. I use the BMW wheel cleaning brushes and solution on the wheels. It's the best stuff out there.

In most European countries, (definitely all who are part of the European Union) it is by law mandatory for the auto maker to supply safety gear such as the Triangle and First Aid Kits. Often they even require to have small fire extinguishers installed although most of the time an extinguisher is not mandated by the goverments but by insurance companies.

As Dr. T mentions, here in North America we are still just a bit behind when it comes to safety.

How many wrenches in tool kit?
 

And do you have 2 wrenches in your X3 toolkit on the left (driver's) side of the hatch? I only have one wrench. The anterior molded slot is empty.

Mine came with the warning triangle and first aid kit.

Thought not standard here in the US it can be bought and properly installed.

I have mine, twice
 

I got my car using the European Delivery Program in Munich, the triangle was there along whith the First Aid Kit and few tools, which I removed before flying back home.
And when I took my car back here in America, surprise, they resupply my car with those articles again.

I guess I'm lucky. :rofl:
