X3 crash test ?

Ok, I've search all over the internet and I did not find any informations about BMW X3 crash test.

I dont know how to search or there is no info about this car ? Isnt this odd?

Other people have asked the same thing, including me! From what I gather the X3 is "too new" or something. Sometimes it takes a couple of years production before crash testers get their hands on a new model. I'm sure BMW has done it's own crash testing on the X3. Even those results would be interesting.

Neah this is not a reason :(
Look at Renault; they crash test theyr cars imediately after release and use the results as a powerful advertising weapon :)

There is no point in having a late crash test ! ( maybe an expected poor result)...

When you say "they" do you mean Renault or independent test organizations? Of course there is no point in having 'late' crash tests. Car manufacturers tests could be considered biased (or rigged) for said advertising purposes. On a CD I got from BMW they showed crash testing footage of new car designs but nothing specific to the X3. Apparently the US organizations do not crash test all brand new vehicles. I am talking about independent test results published in the US like Consumer Reports or the NHTSA. http://nhtsa.com/ I nor anyone I have encountered have seen crash test results on the X3 yet. If you find any I'm sure there are a lot of people here that would like to see them.

Here is a link to the NHTSA's testing site. They have not rated the '04 Year Model X3 yet:

I've never seen a car manufacturer brag about crash results it conducted itself. There's no credibility. They wait until the federal safety organizations or the insurance organizations test it. Then, if the test turns out well, they have a good third party endorsement to brag about. So far, no government or insurance organizations have tested the X3, and they don't seem to be in any great rush to do it. Too bad, because I'd love to see the result.

There are 2 posibilities:
- the car is sent by the producer for independent crash test
- the independent agency will ask/buy a car for tests.

In any case it's strange that BMW doesn't seems in a hurry for a X3 crash test..

Yes, it is strange. Here is a link to a 2001 X5 test (BMW ad). That model appeared in 2000, so since the X3 started in 2004 I'm hoping we will see some tests soon.

I've heard/read that independents buy the cars they test. I guess that removes the possibility of getting specially prepared ones from the manufacturer.

Tired of waiting...

Well, I sure wish SOMEONE would hurry up and conduct some tests! Until that happens I just won't feel comfortable ramming my X3 into a wall-or even a small tree...

If you do decide to run your X3 into a wall or tree anyway, please post the results... :D

AND................ :xoutpost:

And if you do ram it into a tree or other object, please be sure to have either in-car video or external cameras so the engineers can watch it in slow-mo.

I have a better idea...how about nobody crash their X3's and we wont have to worry about crash test results?
