Window Regulator Replacement Clips
Greetings All.
One of two clips that slide along the window regulator rails on the LF door of my 2003 X5 has broken. I see for sale replacement clips on Ebay and other places for around $14 per pair. One seller advertises that these clips "basically snap-in". Does anyone know if this is correct? Any opinions about replacing clips rather than the regulator? Thanks in advance. |
The front ones are cheaper than the rear. I got the OE front ones for a couple bucks a piece online. You can also go to the dealer but expect to pay ~$8 a piece. I'd just go with OE if your willing to pay $14 for eBay ones.
And yes, they do clip in, then are secured with a bolt. |
I think the OP is talking about an aftermarket clip that replaces the moving part on the regulator. I've seen them but did the whole regulator when needed. Perhaps the OP can put up a link? What problem are you trying to fix?
There is another smaller plastic clip that holds the glass to the moving piece on the regulator. Those do break but are available from the dealer, along with the a funny shaped nut that fits it. |
Here is a photo. They are the clips that run up and along the rails. Hope this helps.

I did buy a set but chickened out and replaced the whole regulator. I'll look for them and make you a deal if I can find them (and you want to try).

I thought you were talking about the clip that bolts to that clip, my mistake. I have no experience with those.

OP Regulator is such a weak part already, if I were you I would replace the regulator. Should cost you ~$75 bucks and hal hour of your precious time
