2006 4.8is
There is one in my neighborhood with 45k miles on the clock for sale. Is it any more difficult to work on than my 2003 4.4 ? I not worried about routine maintenance like fluids. I've change out cooling system , brake pads, window regulators etc. I don't want to tackle the chain tensioners or anything actually inside the motor. Are these motors any more difficult to maintain ? Any other issues that maybe different from my current M62 ?

If the price is right go for it.
You're familiar with the M62 issues which is good, the N62 has its own, but isn't a bad motor if cared for properly. If its a lifetime Florida car though I would think it would be in good shape, I just wonder how often it was driven with that low of miles. |
If you trust yourself, check it out. Otherwise, pay for a PPI. Go for it if everything check out.
FYI: Valve stem seal is the headache of the N62, equivalent to timing chain guide on the M62. |
