JUST got $3,300 estimate from an Indy!!!

I knew it was going to be expensive, but I did not see this coming. I had a small oil leak and I occasionally have some power steering fluid on my garage. Took it in and I now need to replace:
1. PS reservoir, return hose, suction hose

2. Oil pan gasket (already replace the oil filter gasket and valve cover gasket)

3. Replace crank case ventilation valve with breather hoses

4. accessory drive belt.

$3,300!!!!!!

I need to break this up into 3 installs. What do you think is needed first....Im honestly shock and at a loss. Considering selling the car instead. Oh it is an 04 with 160K

Lower Oil pan gasket - I believe that one is metal

I'd do the CCV etc 1st.
Belt
and last, the oil leak.

Unless the leak is big, it's staining your garage floor, wife is pissed and then I would do the oil leak a higher priority

$3300 sounds steep. What's your Indy's hourly rate? Is that accessory belt really expensive to do? I think I'd get a 2nd opinion if there's another BMW indy in your area.

Here's what I recently paid for each service including parts, fluids, and labor ($105 or $110/hr at my indy)

1. PS reservoir, return hose, suction hose, new fluid: $395

2. Oil pan gasket, new oil: $239

3. Replace crank case ventilation valve with breather hoses: $179

4. accessory drive belt: Have not yet done this

ETA: In case my sig doesn't show up, I've got a 2006 4.4i.

That is kind of the thought process I have/had. The leak is minimal. Nothing a little cardboard in the garage and top off every month can't solve.

Here was what I wanted to do:

1. Power steering issue
2. CCV issue
3. Belt
4. Oil

I am sure I will have to do the belt before that or they will recommend that do it sooner. They quoted me $350 for the belt. I am seeing it online (continental brand) for $130ish. It is part number ADK0046p

All of their parts seem double priced, if not more. Makes me want to go get another estimate or buy the parts first myself and pay more the labor.

I'd do CCV, belts/PS system, oil leak. But 3k is outrageous.

I am glad you guys are saying this....Let me scan the estimate and show you guys...

GOOG BMW Repair Shops Wilmington, NC:
There are a half dozen listed; couple have to be decent.
That Dlr quote is really list price +++.

Definitely get another estimate.

This makes me suspect an expensive indy shop. It's not unusual to add a little markup to parts (10-20%), but double is too much of a markup.

Yeah I have been to a couple of them. A couple are suspect, but performance auto has been the best so far. I wanted to try this Ken Baker place bc they have several locations and will beat an price....Yeah right!!! I will take it to Performance Auto next and see what tthey have to say.

Again, Thanks a TON for your help, suggestions, support....
