Folding mirrors angle problem
3 Attachment(s)
I have read almost all of the threads on this and other forums. So decided to ask here.
Funny but I haven't even known they were folding mirrors. The problem was the angle it made the locking click sound. (Not the tiny little switch sound) The mirror was making the click at 45 degree angle and it was always closing to that point every day, I move it back etc. Today after reading many threads I opened the motor and turned the center to catch a better angle and it almost fixed my problem, but almost! It clicked at full open position (That was really nice to hear) but there is still a 10-15 degree play on the mirror. It is strong after that I am sure it will not close again. I wish to know if anyone knows if that 10-15 degree play zone is because of the motor. I am suspecting the tiny pin coming out is coming out free a bit and causing my play angle. If anyone has photos of his own motor ad experiences like this I will be happy to see them. Regards |
In your first photo, there is the motor , you need to take that off, and pull the cover off and make sure the two halves line up, hard to explain with no photos, there is a spring loaded part that needs to line up. Also, make sure the limit switch is in solidly! i tends to mess up the mirror setting too! If i can , i will post a pic of mine. I did the same job to mine a year or so back.
good luck. |
I could use those pictures, too. Mines doing this now

Yes that was the point I stuck, because I could not find any post or photos to identify how to calibrate the mirror correctly. The huge spring on top is responsible for holding the mirror in the correct angle and making that click sound (Just my idea I can be wrong) and locking the mirror assembly. I took the outer body apart, lifted it up until it leaves the gear and turned it few degrees, trial by error method:) So far mirror is working but I am very afraid of pressing the fold button:) did not try it again, if one gets stuck other one is not opening too.. I hope you can provide some photos about this motor. Regards |
You should take both motors out and clean them up. I did the same 2 years ago and that helped a lot then I replaced the limit switch and that solved rest of problems

I had the same issue, ive added a pic.
the tab and notch need to line up. i used a screwdriver to make it so, it wasnt that tough. the trickiest part was removing the mirror cover! double check the limit switches are in place and secured well, good luck! |
Thanks, I will open it up today!
