beefing up the trans

being a E4OD trans owner in the 95 Bronco, there are talks about using an R400 or something like that if the E4OD puked. There are HD parts if one was to have it rebuilt and this got me thinking.

the 4.6is has the 5hp24. are there any parts I can upgrade to make the trans more beefy? I don't need to have mine done but was thinking about buying one online and have it rebuilt and if possible to use more HD parts to make it practically bulletproof.

thanks!

Beefing up a transmission would appear to be attempting to make it stronger. Transmission failures have not appeared to be related to the strength of the transmission.

There was a different torque converter on the 4.6 IIRC, but apart from that, I don't know.

One of the part is the D drum that have been beefed up to prevent the failure at the snap ring.

The issue is the lack of transmission fluid changes. My 02 4.6is has had it's trans fluid replace now three times and it has close to 170k miles on the origional transmission. Quite a few of those miles have been hard high rpm drives as well.

Only place I know of is IPT performance transmission in New Jersey.

If/when mine goes I will going to their rebuild and higher stall torque converter.
