Shell is now the OEM oil instead of Castrol
Old news to some of you I am sure. So all of you oem oil types need to get the "wrong" oil out of your cars since it is not the OEM oil anymore :bustingup
Shell To Be BMW Recommended Oil Supplier - Shell Global I run rotella t6 in mine. I wonder how many brains over at e46fanatics have exploded over this news. That crowd would buy BMW window cleaner if it was sold cuz its, you know, better. |

Hmmmmm. Beer...

Shut the fuck up! I've been touting the joys of Rotella T6 (detergents, as well as price per quart!) in my X5 for a couple years now, Riggodeaux will tell you I am hilarious because he used to use it in his Power Stroke.
That's great, wonder what OEM blend they are going to go with? |
Ground Hog Day...
A similar thread from February, where the usual 'what oil to use' arm wrestles can be viewed. ;) GL, mD http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...uys-using.html |
I could never understand BMW owners who insist the BMW logo MUST be on the fluid container if it goes in their BMW.
BMW and their suppliers provides the specs for fluids, and REPUITABLE fluid manufacturers can verify their fluid meets those specs. I run Mobil 1 0w-40 LL-01 spec fluid, still on OE guides and near zero oil consumption with almost 200k miles. I did 3 trans drains/fills at 100k miles with Castrol LT-71141 acceptable spec fluid (Castrol Multi Import Car), all the "ZF fluid ONLY" owners chimed in stating the trans would fail. In the 100k miles following fluid change the X has seen extensive tow duty (6k lb trailer on runs between FL & TX, 7500 lb trailer with 5 occupants and luggage in the mountains of northern PA), even track lapping with 5 on board in Sebring last month. |

Now that's how they SHOULD be run. Nice! |
Guys, the O.E. oil has little roundels in the oil not seen with the naked eye. It does wonders to the engine.
