Vanos oil filter replacement on N62
While browsing through some YouTube videos, I came across one that showed the process of replacing the vanos oil filter in a E49, which looked like a small screen on the end of a sensor of some type. The presenter mentioned this was a 'must do' as the screen blocks up, even when regular oil changes are undertaken. As a newby BMW owner, I was wondering how often other owners do this and what's involved in the N62 engine (are there two)?

Can you share the link to the video? First I've heard of this.

Haven't inspected my motor (N62) yet, but assume there must be something similar on all BMW motors with a vanos. If anyone has done this, feel free to shed some light.

This isn't for our N62 4.4's. I couldn't find anything that even resembled this outside of the main oil filter. ECS sells nothing in that regard nor does RealOEM list anything with the word "filter" in it. Even the M54's don't have these little filters on the vanos units. Seems only for a select few vehicles.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm slowly going through every bit of maintenance on my recently purchased 2006 4.4 which was somewhat neglected, so addressing everything I can, when I came across that video and wondered....
