Need help with bluetooth

hey guys, so I made a trip to Lebanon after not being there for 14 years, when I came back I got the heater switch for the heater problem I had before and also got a Bluetooth computer thing.

Im not sure how it works when I plugged in every thing the only plugs I was able to plug in was the big wiring harness and the blue wire from the x5 I was left with other wires a cream looking head one that didn't fit anywhere.

on the module on one end I have the wire harness plug and the other end I have 3 tabs sticking out from left to right the colors are black purple and blue

this came from a 2004 4.4 x5 my x5 is a 2005

the sticker info on the module are as follow

84.116947308
232925 23
usa 11.02.2004
Motorola
BMW EVEREST IBUS US
SW:69 HW:13
BT:
PK:
ESN 146-02284008
UIS0060825 EVUIBS1011

Another thing is when I plugged it in the x5 the TEL button on the dash the RED light turned on and when I pressed on the TEL button it said PLEASE WAIT...

also when I did a search on the phones Bluetooth it picked up a long number/letters but when I press on it, it failed to connect

Do I have the wrong module or something? my father is still in Lebanon tell the 1st so if I could get help and info on this maybe he could get me the right one before he comes if the one I have is wrong

THANKS!!

That part number is an early 2004 unit which has BMW assist only.
No Bluetooth.

You'll need to find a TCU from 2005 or later.

Riggodeaux 04-28-2015 01:51 PM

yep, spongerich has it right. A guy I work with has an 04 5 series module with similar numbers, no bluetooth.

Moezer 04-28-2015 09:39 PM

so any thing under 2005 wont work ?

Qsilver7 04-29-2015 10:23 AM

Read it and weep....yes, everything stated above is true...the e53 X5 didn't get integrated BT until 10/2004 build date...which would have been around the beginning of the 2005 model year. :(

(take note of the text highlighted in yellow that explains that the 2004 BMW models did NOT get BT even though documentation stated they did)

I looked for a retrofit for my friend who has an 04 5 series - very spendy module, as I recall.

hey guys I have found one but it is also from a 2004 IBUS and has blue tooth would that work or it has to be from a 2005?http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDUwWDgwMA...VERTS/$_27.JPGhttp://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDUwWDgwMA...VERTZ/$_27.JPG

Ones from after October 2004 SHOULD work, but I'd stick with 05 or newer to be sure.

You can install a Mediabridge that will give you bluetooth, aux, USB and Sirius radio if you want.

Moezer 05-27-2015 05:07 PM

well I asked the seller if I can try it before I pay for it hes asking 40 bucks for it bcerdliner id like to keep it stock like

Moezer 05-27-2015 05:21 PM

hey guys was wondering about something when I do test this one is there a reset progress I gotta do or program it to work?

jdstrickland 05-27-2015 06:44 PM

Wait a minute here! I'm confused.

Did you buy a diagnostic tool that plugs into the OBD II data port and talks to your smartphone and/or tablet to display operating parameters of your car? If so, then none of the suggestions so far have anything to do with this.

The scan tool module can connect via bluetooth or wifi, some can do either but most do one or the other. The module connects to your device to display OBD II codes, and lots of information on the parameters of your car. Depending upon the app you load, the module can display far more information than you have any clue what to do with.

I remember this module on kijiji but check the date, it's an old one. This module does not have Bluetooth although it even has a bt paring code.

Yes, you need to program it to work with your car. There are a few options and if you have BMW scanner you can have it working but not the one you posted from kijiji.

honestly, if you want bluetooth, just buy this unit or something similar
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00G...f_rd_i=desktop

i just installed (aka, plugged in) in my 06 X5 and it works fine, the quality is really good too. And it lets me connect 2 devices simultaneously. Which is great because I can have my ipod playing music via bluetooth and if I get a phone call, the music stops and my phone rings through the speakers and allows me to take the call....

Moezer 05-28-2015 04:06 AM

well the whole thing is for my wife to have it and to stream music from her phone, the x5 has an ipod hook up but we don't have any kind of apple product and don't plan on buying any lol

is there a connector I can change to take out the ipod hook up and put a normal usb outlet?

Bouchedag84 05-28-2015 08:33 AM

Do you have an aux in? Cigarette lighter? That's all you need with the product I showed you. It streams music beautifully

bcredliner 05-28-2015 04:12 PM

A mediabridge is not visible and changes nothing. The stock appearance does not change and it is operated with existing radio and steering wheel controls.

I don't think you can do Bluetooth music with the stock units

Moezer 04-24-2016 01:54 AM

so I ended up getting one from a 2004 x5 that supported Bluetooth I hooked it up to the x5 and was able to connect a phone and make calls, but the problem now is that I do no have a mic in the x5 in the head unit

I took the light panel out and there was a loose plug with a white end to it doesn't look like ur normal mic plug tho

umm the wire is not plugged in to anything the white one but my garage door buttons still work in the x5

is it possible that the wire to the mic was not prewired? but yet again every thing else is :dunno:
